Forest Park School – Parents Kinder Social
Forest Heights is a community nestled in the hills west of downtown Portland. Forest Park Elementary is the local school serving this neighborhood and conducts classes for grades K-5. A unique and annual tradition among the parents of these school children is a Parents Kinder Social typically held within the month of September. Each year a small committee of parents arranges a social gathering at one of their homes for the purpose of introducing themselves to each other, learning about their childs classmates, understanding what is taking place with budgets and funding issues for their school and hearing from school administrators about upcoming events, challenges and achievements. While every parent is welcomed and encouraged to attend, this social gather is perfect for parents with children entering kindergarten.
The benefits of this parents social are immense to say the least and harkens back to the days of true community involvement and really getting to know your neighbors. Many of the parents in attendance are either new to the school in general or new to the neighborhood and would like to know more about their childs classmates and friends. My Bartender was honored to be a part of this annual gathering and would like to thank Erin V. for inviting us to bartend for this wonderful group of parents. We had a terrific outdoor bar set-up on what was a warm summer’s evening. Before the business of school updates took place, parents enjoyed ice cold local beer, red and white wines and our hand-crafted Spanish Coffees made to order.
