National Tequila Day – now that’s a holiday we can get behind. 

While it may not be the most famous holiday, we love an excuse to enjoy our favorite tequilas, whether sipped straight or in a cocktail like a margarita. 

There’s nothing like a cool tequila cocktail on a warm summer day, so it’s only fitting that July 24th is National Tequila Day. Learn more about the holiday and figure out how to celebrate it with our ideas below! 

What is National Tequila Day? 

National Tequila Day is also called International Tequila Day, as it’s recognized worldwide. While it’s not an official holiday, it’s a great reason to celebrate tequila if you like drinking this spirit! 

The history of National Tequila Day is unclear, but the history of tequila dates back thousands of years. The first tequila distillery was built in Jalisco, Mexico in the 1600s, but the Aztecs in Mexico drank fermented agave pulp – a predecessor to tequila – as early as 1000 BC.

You can celebrate your love for tequila any day, but we love to raise a glass to this spirit on July 24th for National Tequila Day!
