Grab a Drink at These Hudson Yards Bars

New York City (NYC), or the Big Apple, is a global hub for finance, art, cuisine, fashion, and culture. Many visit the city to access the financial markets, while others get drawn to its numerous attractions.

My favorite things in NYC include visiting Central Park and the Museum of Modern Art. I also enjoy NYC’s nightlife as it lives up to its other nickname, “The City That Never Sleeps”.

Peak Restaurant & Bar

Peak is an upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, and lounge with stunning views of NYC. It is located West of Midtown Manhattan close to landmarks like the Bella Abzug Park and the Javits Convention Center.

The Peak has an extensive drinks menu that consists of wines, New York Craft beers, and cocktails, of which I would recommend the whiskey sour.


Dear Irving on Hudson Rooftop Bar

Dear Irving is a swanky open-air rooftop bar and lounge on the 40th and 41st floors of the Aliz Hotel located near the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

They have lovely cocktails you can learn to make at their classes curated by award-winning bartender Jena Ellenwood.


Scallywag’s

Scallywag’s is a casual Irish restaurant and pub in the Midtown West neighborhood several minutes away from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and Penn Station.

The pub has several beers on tap, including Guinness, and makes a decent Irish coffee in addition to serving food until midnight. 


American Whiskey – Midtown

American Whiskey is a sports bar in Midtown Manhattan located a block away from Madison Square Garden (MSG) and Penn Station.

Renowned for its wide selections of whiskeys that include Japanese whiskey, American Whiskey is ideal for hangouts before and after attending events at MSG as they also serve Southern-inspired food.


On the Rocks

On the Rocks is a cozy and intimate bar in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood situated about one block away from Hell’s Kitchen Park.

The bar specializes in whiskey and has an extensive collection of common and rare whiskeys. When visiting, you should try the Whiskey Pig Rye, one of the best American rye whiskey brands.


Crown Alley

Crown Alley is a casual craft beer and cocktail bar in the Chelsea neighborhood a few blocks from the SVA Theatre.

The bar has a selection of over 100 spirits ranging, including whiskeys, gins, and agave spirits. Some of their popular cocktails are the old-fashioned and the Moscow mule.


Walter’s Bar

The bar, popular for its excellent service, offers a wide range of alcoholic beverages, including beers and spirits and select dishes for lunch and dinner.


Twins Irish Pub

Twins Irish Pub is a laidback pub in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood a block away from Penn Station. The pub has 14 beers on tap, red and white wines, and spirits.

You should try the Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey when you visit. They also serve meals like Irish Fare. 


Maggie Reilly’s

Maggie Reilly’s is a laidback pub in the Chelsea neighborhood situated close to Chelsea Park and MSG. The pub has 11 beers on tap, craft beers, imported beers, spirits, and wines.

I would recommend their tequila sunrise, which blends spicy and sweet perfectly. You can also try their delicious house burger.

Break Bar is a trendy bar in the Hudson Yards neighborhood located a short walk from Penn Station. The bar’s popularity stems from its policy of allowing patrons to smash their glasses after drinking.

They have an assortment of beverages, but I would recommend a bottled beer as they are fun to shatter. 


Milos Wine Bar

Milos Wine Bar is an upscale establishment in the Hudson Yards neighborhood close to the Bella Abzug Park with excellent views of the Hudson River.

The bar specializes in Greek wine, with over 100 Greek wines. The establishment also has a Greek restaurant on the sixth floor. 


Cedric’s at The Shed

Cedric’s is a trendy bar and restaurant in the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project close to the High Line.

They carry three beers on tap, several bottled and canned beers, wines, and creative cocktails. I recommend visiting between Wednesday and Friday as the happy hour lasts from 1-4 PM.


Gallow Green

Gallow Green is a lively, upscale cocktail bar with lush greenery in the Chelsea neighborhood close to Chelsea Park and the High Line.

It has a selection of stirred and shaken cocktails as well as six draft beers, and a selection of white and red wines.

Porchlight is a laidback Southern-inspired bar in the Chelsea neighborhood close to the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project.

The bar has one of the more extensive alcoholic offerings near Hudson Yards. You should try any of their sweet cocktails, especially the non-classics, as they pack a punch.

Haymaker is a casual bar and restaurant in Chelsea, Manhattan, located a few blocks from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden (MSG).

The establishment has an extensive list of over 100 spirits and 19 draft beers. However, I recommend the bar’s craft beers and chicken wings.

The bar consists of three floors and over 16,000 square feet of space with multiple private rooms for you to enjoy their extensive list of alcoholic beverages and foods.

Jack Doyle’s is a trendy sports bar in Midtown Manhattan situated close to Penn Station, MSG, and the Empire State Building.

The bar has an amazing atmosphere, especially on college and NFL game days. I enjoyed a few bottles of Smithwick’s ale while watching my team play.


Bathtub Gin

Bathtub Gin is a cozy bar and restaurant inspired by 1920s speakeasies in the Chelsea neighborhood not far from Clement Clarke Moore Park.

As the name suggests, the bar’s main focus is gin beverages with brands from Israel, Austrian Japan, New Zealand, India, and Australia.


The Tailor Public House

The Tailor Public House is a laidback, classy bar and restaurant in Midtown Manhattan close to the iconic New Yorker hotel and the Manhattan Center.

The bar has various selections of draft beers, hard seltzers, ciders, bottled beers, cocktails, and a decent food menu.

I ordered the black barrel old fashioned, which had a nice sour aftertaste.


Molly Wee

The establishment has American staple foods and an eclectic and interesting list of cocktails, from which I tried the exquisite maple bourbon lemonade


Final Thoughts

Finding the best bars near Hudson Yards can be challenging, given the many available options. However, the establishments on this list are some of the most interesting places you will visit in NYC.
