Not to mention that the city is a hotspot along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. If you didn’t know, Kentucky, particularly Louisville, is known for its bourbon and distilleries.

Whether you’re on a foodie getaway or a local looking for new spots, be sure to try at least one bourbon cocktail from one of the best bars in Louisville, Kentucky.


META

META is a craft cocktail lounge located in Downtown Louisville. META features a hip-retro aesthetic with an upscale, speakeasy vibe suitable for casual to business-formal dress.

The cocktail menu is vast, featuring an assortment of delicious in-house creations and classic staples like Manhattans and Palomas.

For entertainment, META features live music most nights of the week. Indie, folk, and rock genres are mainstays with the occasional DJ set.

I especially liked their live music because it was quiet enough to enjoy conversation amongst friends.


Zanzabar

Zanzabar is located in Saint Joseph on Lynn St. and South Preston St. Zanzabar is a cozy neighborhood tavern with a wide selection of beers, pinball machines, and live music.

Zanzabar’s ambiance is casual and friendly. The staff is amiable, the service is quick, and the patrons are lively and sociable.

For entertainment, Zanzabar features two walls of retro and contemporary pinball machines at $1 a play and an intimate music venue that regularly hosts national acts.

The bar also features a patio perfect for people-watching during the temperate months.

This venue features a variety of entertainment, including DJ sets, trivia nights, drag shows, and karaoke. The tropical-themed patio is the highlight of Chill Bar Highlands.

Stop by and bask in the sun while chatting with the friendly, witty staff.

Located in a charming brick church from the turn of the 20th century, Holy Grale has a distinctive German beer garden vibe. Don’t be fooled though. Beer isn’t the only thing on the menu.

Alongside their alcoholic drinks, Holy Grale serves espresso, coffee drinks, and top-notch new American fare crafted by artisanal chef Jonathan Searle.

Holy Grale closes early compared to other bars on Bardstown, and it fills up quickly because of its ambiance, so be sure to get there early.

Proof On Main is a new take on southern tradition. The restaurant features a museum vibe with an attached art gallery. The vibe at Proof On Main is relaxed but modern.

A rotating menu featuring new creations from the kitchen team keeps things interesting, while the friendly wait staff and bartenders make you feel at home.

Additionally, ShopBar’s spacious seating area provides ample room for large parties. ShopBar’s mellow also offers enough acoustic real estate to accommodate tasteful music and quiet contemplation.
