The Ultimate Guide to Soho Bars

Spring Lounge

Spring Lounge is the quintessential dive bar, located just streets away from Little Italy. The bar has been open for over a century, beginning as a speakeasy in the 1920s.

With over ten beers on tap and a range of cocktails, the bartenders are happy to make any drink you have in mind.

The Spring Lounge’s a great stop to enjoy the ambiance and history.


La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels

La Compagnie des Vin Surnaturels is a classy and upscale wine bar. Located in the heart of Soho, it is steps away from New York University.

Their wine menu is over 50 pages long, but my favorite part of this bar is its food. You can create a cheese board with charcuterie, making the perfect pairing with their selection of wine.


Mother’s Ruin

Mother’s Ruin is a laidback bar with a range of delicious cocktails. A crowd favorite is the Hot & Bothered, which is a slushy made with tequila.

Located on Spring Street, it’s a great stop for food and drinks before enjoying music at the Bowery Ballroom.


Ear Inn

The Ear Inn is a historic bar located in a townhouse built in the 1770s. Known as a place for artists to gather, it perfectly encapsulates the creative neighborhood of Soho.

Botanica

Botanica is a classic dive bar that’s a great stop after visiting Washington Square Park or New York University. Known for their happy hour deals until 7 pm.

You can sample hot and cold drinks while sitting outside under their heated patio all year round.

If you’re looking for a fun place to get drinks, one of my personal favorites is Houston Hall. It’s a beer hall that’s located in a huge space by Hudson Square, which you don’t often see in NYC.

Try one of their many draft beers, and visit them on weekdays for great deals at happy hour.

Von is an artsy speakeasy located streets away from Washington Square Park. It’s open late into the night, making it a great place to go out.

The bartenders are known for hand-crafting unique cocktails, and I recommend taking one of the cocktail classes they offer.


Kenn’s Broome Street Bar

Kenn’s Broome Street Bar is perfect for a laidback experience. Despite an unassuming appearance, the bar is located just blocks away from the heart of Soho.

The bar’s been open for 50 years, so it has a loyal following of customers. Enjoy a drink from their fully-stocked bar before heading out to shop.


SoHo Cigar Bar

For an upscale experience, check out SoHo Cigar Bar right off Sixth Avenue. The menu features a range of specialty cocktails, liqueurs, and appetizers.

You can also order cigars and smoke them in the lounge. With the bar’s lush and comfortable interior, this place feels like stepping back in time.

Local is a cozy and charming bar situated right by Hudson Square and Washington Square Park. As the name suggests, this is a great place to meet local New Yorkers and enjoy a wide variety of beers.

They curate their beer selection from local Northeastern vendors, and you can take some gifts home.

The Up & Up is a trendy, upscale cocktail bar located in Greenwich Village. The bar gives speakeasy vibes, so you can enjoy an intimate night.

You can’t go wrong with the cocktail selection, but my personal favorite is their Insanely Good Gin & Tonic.

Soho is a must-visit district in New York City. With trendy shops, restaurants, and art galleries, combined with history and beautiful architecture, it’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
