Virginia Beach is one of the best towns on the east coast. They have a great beach, lots of delicious food, and a bunch of bars.

Rudee Inlet is right on the water in the south part of Virginia Beach. Not only do they have great food and fun gliding tables, but they also have good drinks.
Enjoy one of 32 beers, 17 wines, or 15 signature cocktails by one of the seasonal fireplaces or on the outdoor, year-round deck overlooking the marina.
Commonwealth Brewing Co

Commonwealth Brewing Co is on the west of the Chesapeake Bay, right by route 13 and the Sea Gull Pier. They have dozens of beers you can try, and I promise any beer-lover will find something to enjoy.
You can sip in their tasting room or the cute outdoor beer garden.

Elevation 27 in the Atlantic Park neighborhood west of the beach is one of my go-to’s for where to get a drink when I want to hear live music.
This nightclub has live music on weekends with various musical genres and dance parties. Make sure you grab your tickets ahead of time, so they don’t sell out.
Hot Tuna

Hot Tuna is just north of Bay Island, and they have great drinks to pair with their farm-fresh food.
They have a variety of wines, cocktails, and beers, and I love going during their daily happy hour, which is from 4 PM to 6 PM and has both food and drink specials.
The Back Deck

The Back Deck sits on the Chesapeake Bay, and the views are great! It is one of the best places to go out for a happy hour in Virginia Beach, and they have food and drink specials Sunday through Thursday.
They have a great list of beachy cocktails, my favorite being the Sparkling Sangria.
Murphy’s Irish Pub

Murphy’s Irish Pub is just two blocks from the beach, and I love how simple but fun it is here. Like most Irish pubs, they have amazing food and lots of fun cocktails.
You can’t go wrong with a Guinness either and be sure to check out their food and drink happy hour Monday through Friday.

Lunasea is another fun place to get drinks near the beach. They have Tex-Mex food and drinks, as well as a dance club, a volleyball court, and six bars throughout.
I love going on Tuesdays for Flight Night, where you get three tacos and three tequila tastings while you listen to live music.
Cheds Bar and Grill

Cheds Bar and Grill is about halfway between Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. They have pool tables, electronic games, as well as some simple drinks like beers and mixed drinks.
If you want something simple and dive bar-like, you should check out Cheds.

Another dive bar on the north end of Virginia Beach is the Lynnhaven Pub. They serve a variety of beer along with BBQ and sandwiches.
A lot of the beer here is from local breweries, so it is a good place to try a variety of craft beers all in one place.

The Bunker Brewpub is in the heart of Virginia Beach, less than two blocks from the beach. It is one of my favorite bars since they have 20 beers on tap and they are always changing them.
They are all local beers too, and they also serve wine and spirits, so you can come here with anyone, and they can find something to drink.
The Casual Pint (Virginia Beach)

The Casual Pint is one of the fun places to go out in the southern part of Virginia Beach. They have a coffee shop vibe, but instead of coffee, they serve beer.
They have beer on tap, canned, and in bottles. You can also take one of their many beers home in a growler.
Casey’s Pub

Casey’s Pub is in the west part of Virginia Beach, about 10 minutes or 6 miles from the beach itself. The bar is simple, but it’s great for a lowkey night.
They have beers, wine, and a couple of cocktails. Be sure to try the yummy Casey’s Cooler, which comes as a drink or a shooter.
South Beach Grill

South Beach Grill is just west of downtown Virginia Beach, and they are primarily a seafood restaurant, but they also have amazing drinks.
They have a full bar, so you can order your favorite drink or just a beer or glass of wine. They also have live music on certain days of the week.
The Tailgate Sports Pub

The Tailgate Sports Pub is in western Virginia Beach, close to Norfolk. It is one of the best bars in Virginia Beach if you want to watch a game and have a cold beer.
They have happy hour Monday through Friday and have a large selection of beers.
CP Shuckers Cafe & Raw Bar

CP Shuckers Cafe & Raw Bar is another fun sports bar, but this one is in downtown Virginia Beach. I love coming here late at night, as they are open late and the kitchen stays open late too.
They have your typical sports bar drinks like beers, mixed drinks, and amazing food to go with it.
The Shack

The Shack is easily one of my favorite bars since it is right by the beach, and they have an outdoor bar. The seating area outside is so cute, and they have games like cornhole.
They have wine, beer, and amazing cocktails like the Crushes, which come in more than a dozen flavors and are perfect in the summer.
Ready Room

The final one of the best bars in Virginia Beach is the Ready Room in the southern part of town. It is a tiny dive bar with a pool table and a full bar.
You can get beer and mixed drinks here, plus there are TVs to watch sports.
Final Thoughts
Virginia Beach has some of the best bars, and they have all sorts of vibes, no matter what you are looking for. From breweries and sports bars to bars on the water and some with love music, you will find an amazing place to have a drink in Virginia Beach.
