The “black broadway” neighborhood of U Street Corridor is home to renowned chef Rose Previte’s restaurant and bar, the Compass Rose.
Compass Rose is a haven for art and culture and is a stone’s throw from Meridian Hill Park and the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum.
The laid-back bar has a world-class menu of cocktails and draft beers in line with the owner’s culinary prowess.
However, the star of the show and one of my favorite reasons to dine at the Compass Rose is the wine list laden with pearls from local and international markets.

You can imbibe the crafted cocktails or wine (sold by the bottle and the glass), but I recommend this bar mainly because of the farm-to-table cuisine.
