Hell’s Kitchen Gay Bars to Visit to Grab Drinks at This Weekend

I can’t even guess how many bars there are in all of NYC, and there are plenty of amazing gay bars. If you are in Hell’s Kitchen, you have many options for where to go.

There are chill bars, bars with fun brunches and drag shows, and bars where you can let loose on the dance floor.

No matter what kind of vibe you are looking for or who you are going with, I have some great options for gay bars in the neighborhood. Check out my list of the best gay bars in Hell’s Kitchen below!

Flaming Saddles Saloon

Flaming Saddles is a fun country and western-themed bar on 9th and 53rd where you can dance and drink the night away.

They have a great happy hour in the afternoons from Monday to Friday and late at night on Sunday. The happy hours are one of my favorite places to meet new people.

Boxers HK

Another amazing gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen is Boxers HK. They have other locations, but I love this location’s chill but fun vibe.

They have a lounge, a terrace, and three bars where you can get a delicious drink. There are also brunches on weekends, and I highly recommend the drag brunches.

Rise Bar

859 9th Ave, New York, NY 10019
Phone: (646) 892-3313
Visit Website

Rise Bar is one of my go-to places for fun places to get drinks in the neighborhood, and they are just across from Balsley Park.

It’s one of the more standard gay bars, but they have a lot of fun events like drag shows and karaoke. I love coming here with friends, on a date, or on my own to meet new people.

9th Avenue Saloon

656 9th Ave, New York, NY 10036
Phone: (212) 307-1503
Visit Website

If you are looking for where to get a drink in HK but want something lowkey, the 9th Ave Saloon is a good option.

They stay open late seven days a week and open mid afternoon, so you can always come here for a fun but less rowdy time.

The Spot

599 10th Ave, New York, NY 10036
Phone: (917) 675-7403
Visit Website

I love The Spot because they have a great variety of cocktails, my favorite being the Cold Brew Martini.

It is literally one of my go-to spots, and they are open just in time for one of the best drag brunch shows I have ever seen.

DBL

667 10th Ave, New York, NY 10036
Phone: (646) 756-5230
Visit Website

DBL is in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, and it is a gorgeous bar where you can grab a drink in the darker, romantic inside bar.

Or, get a drink on the patio and enjoy the fresh air during those unbeatable NYC summers. They also have some great drink specials to enjoy.

VERS — gay bar NYC

714 9th Ave, New York, NY 10019
Phone: (917) 300-8834
Visit Website

VERS, on the corner of 9th Avenue and 49th St., is another one of the fun places to go out that I highly recommend.

I like VERS because they have food options. You can also enjoy some unique cocktails and the events. Don’t miss the happy house from 5 to 7 PM daily.

Julius’

159 W 10th St, New York, NY 10014
Phone: (212) 243-1928
Visit Website

Julius’ is considered the city’s oldest gay bar, so you must come here at least once. There are a lot of regulars here, and you can become one too! You can get food here, like burgers.

Uncle Charlie’s Piano Lounge

139 E 45th St, New York, NY 10017
Phone: (646) 476-9532
Visit Website

Uncle Charlie’s Piano Lounge is SO FUN, and everyone will love the piano music here. There is also an outdoor terrace that you cannot miss out on in the summer.

There is also a separate indoor bar away from the piano music if you want somewhere to chill and talk with a date or friends.

Big Apple Ranch

320 W 37th St 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10018
Phone: (917) 974-3401
Visit Website

Another one of the fun places to go out in Hell’s Kitchen is the Big Apple Ranch on 37th. They are a gay bar, but all your straight and other identifying friends will love it here too.

They are known for their big dance parties, which take place on Saturday nights, and are country-western style. Yeehaw!

The Toolbox Bar

1742 2nd Ave store, New York, NY 10128
Phone: (212) 348-1288
Visit Website

Last but not least is another one of the late-night bars in the neighborhood: The Toolbox Bar.

They are the bar to go to if you want to meet some chill people in the neighborhood and are looking for a place to make your spot.

Final Thoughts

There are many gay bars in the city, but some of my favorites are in Hell’s Kitchen. You have so many options, so you can have a quiet night one day and stay out all night long the next.

Paul Kushner

I have always had a deep interest in the restaurant and bar industry. My restaurant experience began in 1997 at the age of 14 as a bus boy. By the time I turned 17 I was serving tables, and by 19 I was bartending/bar managing 6-7 nights a week.

In 2012, after a decade and a half of learning all facets of the industry, I opened my first restaurant/bar. In 2015, a second location followed, the latter being featured on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
