SOB (South of Beale) Downtown is a hip gastropub serving creative cocktails and elevated pub fare. It’s conveniently located on South Main street, close to the Orpheum Theatre. It’s a popular place for foodies, as the SOB burger is an iconic original, and the Banana Pudding pancakes are a fine delicacy during brunch. For dessert, I recommend the peanut butter pie. When it comes to drinks, my favorite is the Blue Suede Shoes, but I’ve also enjoyed their espresso martinis. They’re available during Sunday Brunch.

Celtic Crossing Irish Pub can be found in East Midtown. This pub features over 100 types of whiskey and allows you to try up to three with their whiskey flights. They also have wines and a menu of specialty cocktails. My favorite whiskeys are the Buffalo Trace and Knappogue Castle. As for the cocktails, I particularly enjoy their Lady Leprechaun. In addition, they serve great food, such as beer-steemed mussels, to name one exceptional menu item.

Situated in Crosstown in what used to be a Masonic Temple, Ecco on Overton Park is a fancy dining restaurant. You’ll be spoilt for choice here whether you prefer cocktails, wine, or beer. Though I could name several favorites, I have to highlight the Fireside Chat cocktail as the one that left the biggest impression on me. You can pair your beverage with a delicious cheese plate to share with friends, or if you’re eating meals, the braised Bok Choy is incredible.

BABALU is located in the Overton Square entertainment district in Midtown Memphis. They serve Latin-inspired cuisine and craft cocktails. I love their Chicken Satay entree, but I would also recommend trying any of their eight taco varieties on the menu. Furthermore, cheesecake bites make for a great dessert. And if you’re on a fun night out with friends, try the homemade sangria.

Alchemy Memphis, a popular bar known for its creative craft cocktails, is located in the Cooper-Young neighborhood in Midtown Memphis. There’s also an extensive bourbon list on offer. My favorite is the Pappy Van Winkle 23-Year-Old, a delicious bourbon with rich and complex flavor profile.

Knife bird wine bar is located by Central Gardens in Memphis. It’s a classy, picturesque bar that makes you want to immortalize your visit there with a photo. Not only do they offer exceptional wines, but also a wide selection of cocktails and beers. If you’ve never tried it, I recommend ordering the Bitter Betty cocktail. In addition, they serve charcuterie boards and nine kinds of bruschetta that pair well with the drinks.

Slider Inn – Midtown
Slider Inn can be found in Midtown and Downtown Memphis, promising 16 different kinds of sliders alongside a daily rotating sandwich menu, wings, salads, soups, and desserts. The Buffalo Chicken Slider is my personal favorite, but I always enjoy trying something new with every visit. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available.

Bayou is a New Orleans-style restaurant and bar serving Cajun and Creole dishes. With an exuberant atmosphere and live music on the weekends, it’s one of the most popular happy hour spots in Midtown Memphis. I always enjoy exploring local brews, and there are plenty on offer here. One of my favorites is Crosstown Traffic. In addition, they have an extensive collection of wines.

Tug’s Casual Grill is a laid-back restaurant and bar known for its seafood and Southern cuisine. It’s located on Mud Island in Memphis, offering stunning views of the Mississippi River. I love coming here for a pizza, with my favorites being Funky Chicken, Hula by the RIver, and Burnin ‘Love. They also have many great cocktails, such as Evening Shade and Whiskey Smash.

Blind Bear is a speakeasy style bar and restaurant offering craft cocktails and pub food. So if you plan on exploring Downtown Memphis, definitely add this spot to your itinerary. Their cocktail menu, appropriately named Giggle Juice, has a list of fun, creative drinks. Some favorites are Pimm’s Cup and the Tropical Redbull Thunder. They also have some tasty food, including various sandwiches, tasty wings, and Don Julio’s tacos.

Automatic Slim’s is a trendy bar and restaurant located in Downtown Memphis. They boast an extensive cocktail list and a menu featuring American and Mediterranean dishes. I love ordering the Flirtini and the Butterfly, as well as the Ripple Cocktail. If you’re looking for something sweet, I recommend ordering the Cupcake Pinot Grigio.

The Cove, a cozy and eclectic bar known for its craft cocktails and tiki-inspired drinks, is located in the Broad Avenue Arts District in Memphis. The menu offers various seafood delicacies, complementing the bar’s charming nautical decor. In addition, I was happy to learn you can order a Sazerac cocktail here, which isn’t always the easiest to find.

Max’s Sports Bar is located in Downtown Memphis, just a few blocks away from Beale Street. It’s a popular spot for sports fans to catch a game and enjoy drinks and pub fare. Their slushes are particularly popular and perfect drink during hot summer evening. I also recommend trying the Purple Drank. Outside of tasty beverages, there are plenty of great classic snacks to dine on. The BBQ nachos and lunchroom school pizza are my go-to’s.

Huey’s can be found at multiple locations across the city. They are coveted for great live music and incredible burgers with that special Huey’s seasoning. Nothing goes better with them than Huey’s draft beers and wine options. My favorite meal is the Chicken Salad sandwich. If you’re visiting with friends or family, I would also highly recommend splitting the Rock Slide dessert.

Char Restaurant is conveniently situated right on Highland St., not far from the University of Memphis. Their menu features plenty of cocktails, wines, and beers to satisfy anyone’s palate. My personal favorite is the Blueberry Lemon Drop. In addition, if you’re looking to grab a bite, they serve brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Loflin Yard is a popular outdoor entertainment venue in Memphis located in the South Main Historic Arts District. I love its rustic atmosphere with fire pits and live music. My favorite drink on their menu is seasonal, called “There’s money in the banana stand, Michael!” I also enjoy “Itiswhatitis,” which features a secret recipe you have to taste to find out what’s in the mix.

RP Tracks Restaurant & Bar is situated in Midtown Memphis, just steps away from the University of Memphis campus. Though best known for their famous BBQ Tofu, they also have plenty of other tantalizing options. You’ll love their Chipotle hummus paired with a strong beer or one of their carefully crafted cocktails. You can’t help but win if you visit RP Tracks.

Maximo’s on Broad is located in the historic Broad Avenue Arts District. They have a wine bar and offer local beers and specially handcrafted cocktails. I enjoy their Sangria and the Starboard and Honey Love mixed drinks. Considering Maximo’s food, the Avocado fries are a great appetizer if you don’t plan to stay long, and the stuffed chicken is an incredible entree if you do.
