Planning a vacation in Los Angeles? Great idea! The City of Angels is one of my favorite destinations in the United States.
If you’re planning to stay in one of the many excellent hotels in the city, one great attraction will be right on your doorstep (actually, even closer).
I’m talking about hotel bars. I’ve put together this list of hotels with bars that are more than worth a visit in L.A. Even if you’re not staying in the hotel, you should still give these bars a visit.

Hotel Bel-Air

More than a hotel, Hotel Bel-Air is a glamorous estate. It’s also a legend, with a history stretching back to the 1920s.
The upscale Bar & Lounge at Hotel Bel-Air is well-loved by the celebrity set. Of course there are decadent cocktails for you to enjoy.
There is live entertainment every night, too. Hotel Bel-Air is less than a 40-minute drive from the Bel-Air Country Club.
The Club Bar at The Peninsula

Beverly Hills is synonymous with luxury, so it makes sense that The Peninsula is an extraordinarily fine hotel.
As you’d expect, The Club Bar has a full menu of top-notch drinks, including cognacs, scotches, whiskies, and more.
The bar has its own private-label wine called The Peninsula Sonoma Pinot Noir. You can sample it here. The Club Bar at the Peninsula is in easy distance of the famous Waldorf Astoria.
The Tap Room

Located at The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, The Tap Room has a long history.
I was impressed by the elegant sophistication and exclusive atmosphere of The Tap Room.
It offers an impressive menu of whiskey, bourbon, cognac, single malt scotch and more. Prefer beer? The Tap Room has artisanal beer available on tap.
Upstairs at Ace Hotel

Upstairs at Ace Hotel is a fun place to get drinks in Los Angeles. This establishment offers a great range of cocktails and wines.
When I visited this bar, I tried the Home Sweet Home cocktail. It’s delicious, with orange, apple brandy, cognac, and more. You can get beer to share with a friend, too.
Ace Hotel is a trendy boutique establishment and so is its bar.
Sugar Plum at the Viceroy Santa Monica

Sugar Plum is an upscale yet laidback bar and lounge located at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica.
It has indoor and outdoor drinking and dining. This establishment has a fantastic cocktail menu, as well as an impressive wine list.
There is also beer on draft, including unusual finds such as Expatriate IPA from Three Weavers Brewing Co in Inglewood, California, and others. There is also a Mexican beer selection.
The Normandie Club

You’ll discover the Normandie Club in the historic Hotel Normandie.
This hotel is in the Koreatown district of Los Angeles. The Normandie Club is community-focused yet welcomes visitors as well.
This hotel bar features a sophisticated approach to its drinks menu. My favorite drink here is the Bees Knees, which includes plum brandy, gin, green plum honey, and more.

Shutters on the Beach is a gloriously beautiful beach hotel in Santa Monica, and Coast Beach Cafe is a must-visit hotel bar.
It’s the perfect place to unwind beside the ocean and enjoy a refreshing drink. Coast Beach Cafe offers a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails, wine, and beer.
I recommend the Santa Monica Citrus Witbier, one of the beers on tap.
The Culver Hotel

The Culver Hotel is the epitome of European elegance and historic flair.
Its bar and lounge, Lillie’s, is more than worth a visit while you’re in Culver City. Head to The Velvet Lounge for a full bar.
Happy Hour happens between 3 and 5 pm. Of course, you can enjoy a sophisticated cocktail or go with the local Los Angeles draft beer on tap.
Riviera 31

Riviera is the lounge at Sofitel Hotel & Resort in Los Angeles.
If you’re looking for a hotel bar that is known for great live entertainment, Riviera 31 is the pick for you.
When it comes to drinks, it has impressive cocktail and spirits menus. When I visited Riviera 31, I enjoyed a Peroni beer, imported from Italy.
The Lounge

The Lounge is the bar and lounge at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles.
The name Four Seasons is synonymous with luxury and quality, the The Lounge is just as wonderful as you’d expect.
The Lounge offers delicious specialty cocktails and wine together with a light menu of tasty bites. Visit on a Friday night to enjoy live entertainment.
Mr. C Beverly Hills

Are you staying at Mr. C Beverly Hills? If you are (and even if you’re not), consider a visit to The Lobby Lounge.
It’s a comfortable lounge with a welcoming vibe. It has a European look indoors, and there is some outdoor seating as well.
My favorite drink here is the Strawberry Mimosa. There are other cocktails and a wine list here, too.
The Spare Room

Head over to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and its The Spare Room lounge.
The Spare Room has a glamorous vintage cocktail menu. Green for Danger is a daring combination, with absinthe, dry vermouth, sherry with mezcal, and dry vermouth.
This lounge and its hotel is in easy distance of the Tropicana Pool & Cafe. It’s one of the best fun places to go out in Los Angeles.
CUT at Beverly Wilshire

A Four Seasons hotel, the Beverly Wilshire is the best of the best.
It’s right by the world-famous Rodeo Drive, so you can do some serious shopping. CUT is the bar and lounge at the Beverly Wilshire.
This lounge’s atmosphere is equal parts sophisticated and subdued. I appreciate CUT for its elegant craft cocktails, which you can accompany with small dishes, such as Wagyu Beef Sliders.
Break Room 86 at The Line Hotel

As hinted by the name, Break Room 86 is a proud ‘80s throwback.
Step in the door and travel back in time. If you’re looking for a fun and casual place to get drinks in L.A., you’ve got to visit Break Room 86 at The Line Hotel.

If you’re staying at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites (or even if you’re not), enjoy some drinks at Lobby Court.
Spacious and fashionable, Lobby Court offers a full bar and cocktail menu, and it’s open every day of the week. Don’t worry about dressing up. Lobby Court has a casual dress code.
So, there you have it! Los Angeles has many attractions, but don’t overlook these fantastic hotel bars.
