When I’m driving down the 410, wondering where to get a drink, I know a stop at Dads Karaoke is in my future. The bar has a great crowd, but my favorite part is the karaoke stage, which has a backdrop that looks like a library—something I’ve never seen in a bar! They have several beers on tap and even more in bottles, but I always order a custom cocktail. The bartenders make an especially strong White Russian I can’t resist.

Oak Hills Tavern is a casual bar in the Medical Center with a patio area, darts, shuffleboard, and pool table. They have karaoke every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday, with a stage in the corner of the bar. There are several quality beers on tap that I pair with their handmade pizzas. My favorite is the Little Piggy with smoked pork, honey-jalapeno BBQ sauce, and bacon-onion jam.

The Martini Club is the place to go for classic cocktails. It’s in the North Star Square shopping mall and has a full stage for live music and karaoke. They host karaoke every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until the last call, so I love to sip a martini and sing a few songs. As expected from the name, the bar serves killer martinis. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite drink when I want something sweet to cut the Fireball cinnamon whiskey shot.
The Bang Bang Bar
119 El Mio Dr, San Antonio, TX 78216

The Bang Bang Bar is a few blocks from the Shearer Hills/Ridgeview Walking Trail. The interior perfectly mixes a dive bar and my grandmother’s living room with cozy mismatched furniture and a karaoke stage. I try a different drink between each song because the bartenders have unique offerings, like a cocktail with Pop Rocks garnish and a Bloody Mary with the biggest pickle I’ve ever seen.
The Dakota East Side Ice House

This laid-back alehouse is within walking distance of the Alamodome, so I always hit it up after a game or concert. It has an outdoor space with picnic tables, but I stake out the inside due to the karaoke stage. The bar includes several beers on tap and a cooler with more options. I recommend saving room for dinner, too. I love the Crackberry Pork—a pulled pork sandwich topped with pineapple pico on a jalapeno cheddar bun.
502 Bar
502 Embassy Oaks, San Antonio, TX 78216

Located in the Embassy Oaks Shopping Center, 502 Bar is one of my favorite places to go out for music, either a local band or karaoke. Since they have live music, they have a great stage setup. The 502 Bar is one of the best karaoke bars in San Antonio, so I can unwind with music after a great day. Beyond the musical appeal, they have an impressive draft list, categorizing beers from light to dark, hoppy, and sour, so there’s something for whatever taste I have.

Thirsty Camel Bar is in the Yard shopping center in the Olmos Park Terrace area. It’s one of the most fun places to get drinks in San Antonio because they host themed karaoke nights, including retro country and Disney. They have fantastic happy hour specials with affordable, massive margaritas that prepare me to take the stage.

This bar is in Blossom Plaza, so it looks plain from the outside, but inside, it’s got plenty of seating and a great karaoke stage. It’s right next to McAllister Park, so it’s the place to go when I want to cool down and relax after a day outside. I love their coffee cocktails, especially the Sweet Mexican Coffee. Since the chef is amazing, I save room for a ribeye dinner.
Sir Winston’s Pub

Sir Winston’s Pub is just off the 410 in Northeast Park, near the airport. They have karaoke every night, so it’s possible to attend. They also have killer drink specials from opening until 8 p.m., so I can afford plenty of drinks to prime my singing voice. The bar also has pool tables, darts, shuffleboard, and video games so I can have fun while waiting for my chance to sing. San Antonio is one of my favorite cities, with attractions like the Alamo and the River Walk. But when I’ve spent the day being a tourist, I want to find fun places to go out, and Sir Winston’s Pub is one of my favorites.
