If you’re wondering where to get a drink at night that everyone you know will fall in love with, head straight to Gibson, near the Lincoln Theatre.

This bar is known for its high-quality mixology, with bartenders creating gorgeously crafted cocktails using the finest ingredients.

It’s a truly innovative speakeasy that’s perfect for late-night adventures when no one is quite ready to go home.

I recommend ordering the Simmer Down, my favorite cocktail here.

DC9 Nightclub

DC9 Nightclub is undoubtedly one of the most fun places to go out in the city, especially since it’s located in the popular and lively U Street area (but not directly on it, which is nice).

It’s a cool tri-level bar offering a divey basement, a live music space, and an airy rooftop, ensuring everyone can get the vibe they’re after late at night.

I love going here with friends to dance the night away or just relax on the deck with a beer.

Off the Record

Off the Record, located directly to the north of Lafayette Square, is a semi-hidden cocktail bar with a cozy, plush space that’s perfect for relaxing late at night with a cold cocktail in hand.

Whether or not you’re staying in the Hay-Adams Hotel, you can enjoy this bar until midnight and enjoy an array of food and drinks that are to die for.

I personally love pairing a cocktail with a special dessert, like the lemon verbena souffle.

Denson Liquor Bar

600 F St NW, Washington, DC 20004
Phone: (202) 758-3867

Denson Liquor Bar, close to the Capital One Arena, is undoubtedly one of the best late-night bars in Washington DC.

And also one of the most fun places to get drinks in the area if you like a mixture of lively and classy vibes.

I appreciate that it’s open until 1:00 am and that they have such a huge selection of spirits to choose from.

All of my “liquor connoisseur” friends enjoy heading here and ordering various drinks to enjoy samples of every concoction.

Exiles Bar

1610 U St NW, Washington, DC 20009
Phone: (202) 232-2171

Exiles Bar, located near Meridian Hill Park, is one of my favorite spots to go to past midnight because of its cozy, brick-lined space that puts me in a homey mood.

I like the inclusive atmosphere, as it’s a great space to chit-chat with friends old and new.

I also appreciate that they have an all-day breakfast sandwich, so even when I go late at night, I can still get one of my favorite items on the menu!

The Crown & Crow

1317 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20005
Phone: (202) 763-7552
Visit Website

The Crown & Crow, near Logan Circle, is a trendy, Victorian-style pub located on the lower level of the street, which offers a moody, watering-hole feel.

I love the intimate ambiance and sophisticated cocktails to match.

I used to go when I was in my younger 20s in order to feel more sophisticated than I was, and now I simply appreciate the nostalgic feel it brings.

The Haymaker Bar

1015 H St NE, Washington, DC 20002
Phone: (202) 368-1626
Visit Website

The Haymaker Bar is another well-loved craft cocktail bar with a welcoming atmosphere.

Located near the Sherwood Recreation Center, it has more of a casual, upbeat feel for a cocktail bar, which I appreciate when I’m in an energetic and talkative mood.

I also appreciate that they have an array of other drinks, such as draft beers and straight whiskey pours.

Silver Lyan

900 F St NW, Washington, DC 20004
Phone: (202) 788-2799
Visit Website

Silver Lyan, near the Ford’s Theatre, is a trendy bar that doesn’t open until 5 pm and offers an array of fun snacks alongside delicious drinks.

Given the fact that you can get both jello shots and Champagne here, it’s clearly an excellent choice for birthdays, bachelor/ette parties, and other special celebrations.

This speakeasy-style spot is my go-to for events as well as whenever I’m craving a thought-provoking drink – and pretzel bites!

The Green Zone

2226 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009
Phone: (202) 579-9606
Visit Website

The Green Zone is located near Kalorama Park and is an excellent bar that stays lively without getting too crowded, which is a great combination for such a popular city like DC.

I go for the cocktails, but mostly for the Middle Eastern bites they serve, such as hummus and falafel.

While there, make sure to try one of their specialty cocktails like “A Few of My Favorite Things” and “Janissary Corps.”

Please drink responsibly, be fully accountable with your alcohol consumption, and show others respect.

I have always had a deep interest in the restaurant and bar industry. My restaurant experience began in 1997 at the age of 14 as a bus boy. By the time I turned 17 I was serving tables, and by 19 I was bartending/bar managing 6-7 nights a week.

In 2012, after a decade and a half of learning all facets of the industry, I opened my first restaurant/bar. In 2015, a second location followed, the latter being featured on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
