While I love visiting fun bars, I also appreciate having drinks at places that prioritize live music.

Crescent Ballroom has performances every night, ranging from bands of all genres to weekly songwriter’s showcases.

The venue is just a block from Civic Space Park, which has a stunning sculpture that lights up at night.

The venue serves Mexican food and unique cocktails.

I can never resist their homemade red sangria or Cuba Libre, made of Don Q rum and Mexican Coke.

Valley Bar comes to mind when I’m looking for entertainment and wondering where to get a drink.

It’s in the heart of downtown Phoenix, not far from the Arizona Science Center.

The venue features live music, films, spoken word performances, and comedy, depending on the night.

The cocktail menu has many delicious options, but I always choose the Super Special, a seasonal cocktail using fresh ingredients, so it’s always a surprise.

Copper Blues Rock Pub & Kitchen is a cool place for live music near Footprint Center, Phoenix’s downtown concert arena.

The bar has bold artwork featuring the biggest names in rock and serves over 60 beers on tap.

While I love beer, the bartenders are so skilled that I grab a rock-named cocktail.

My favorite is Kickstart My Heart, with vodka, vanilla liqueur, and Red Bull.

Yucca Tap Room

Just a short drive from Phoenix is one of the best places to go out in Tempe, the Yucca Tap Room.

The Yucca Tap Room is in Danelle Plaza and Tempe’s original live music venue.

The bar always has different beers on draft, like Peach Lolli, a Belgian Blonde aged with local peaches from The Beer Research Institute in Mesa, and Arizona Gold, a golden ale from the Phx Beer Co.

Wigwam Bar in The Wigwam

The Wigwam is an amazing hotel to stay in when I visit Phoenix, but even if I choose another hotel, the Wigwam Bar is one of the most fun places to go out.

The bar is in the hotel on a beautiful property with live music and delicious cocktails.

The bartenders make strong cocktails, but I like trying their unique offerings of CBD cocktails and mocktails.

I especially love the Prickly Pear Lemonade Mocktail with CBD seltzer that mellows me out.

Handlebar J

7116 E Becker Ln, Scottsdale, AZ 85254

Handlebar J is a country-themed bar about 30 minutes outside Phoenix in Scottsdale.

When I first walked in, the cowboy hats hanging from the ceiling immediately grabbed my attention.

The bar has great drinks and plenty of beer, but I don’t drink too much, so I can save room for food.

The chef makes the best baby back ribs and meatballs, my favorites to order for dinner.

Phoenix is an excellent place for music, with the Musical Instrument Museum as one of my favorite traveling destinations.

After learning a lot about instruments, I like to visit the best live music bars in Phoenix to hear various bands and musicians perform.

The Blooze

The Blooze is a bar hosting live music in the Melrose Paradise area of Phoenix, right off the Piestewa Freeway.

Depending on when I stop by, it’s the coolest neighborhood bar I’ve seen, with live music, open mic nights, and dance lessons.

It’s in the Cactus Village strip mall and looks unassuming, but inside, it’s a great music venue.

Please drink responsibly, be fully accountable with your alcohol consumption, and show others respect.

Written by Paul Kushner

I have always had a deep interest in the restaurant and bar industry. My restaurant experience began in 1997 at the age of 14 as a bus boy. By the time I turned 17 I was serving tables, and by 19 I was bartending/bar managing 6-7 nights a week.

In 2012, after a decade and a half of learning all facets of the industry, I opened my first restaurant/bar. In 2015, a second location followed, the latter being featured on The Food Network’s
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
