When the sun goes down in the City of Angels, I like to play pool in cool spots.

These places are some of the best pool halls in Los Angeles. As a bonus, they’re fun places to get drinks while I play.

Anytime I wonder where to get a drink in the area around the famous Forest Lawn cemetery, I head to Green Room Billiards, not far off the Glendale Freeway.

It’s a mellow place that only serves beer, no food, so I know anyone there will be a decent player.

They offer eight ball, pyramid, and snooker, allowing me to mix up my games.

Young’s Billiard, on the edge of Rampart Village and Little Bangladesh, is one of my favorite places to play pool when I’m not looking for bars.

They serve free soda or coffee to players, which is great because I don’t want to have beers and flub my game.

I can play plenty of quality tables, paid by the hour.

OK Billiards is on the border of Wilshire Park and Koreatown, as evidenced by the sushi places I can hit up after a game.

The owners only speak Korean, but they maintain their tables so well that I always stop by to rent a table.

90 West Lounge is in Cypress Grove, right off the Marina Freeway.

They serve craft beers and domestic, plus cocktails and spirits, so I always enjoy a drink here.

It’s a cool bar with plenty of space for people to sit and talk, but there are always people who want to compete at the pool table, so I love stopping by.

Shatto 39 Lanes is a bowling bar and arcade near Shatto Park, so after spending some time outside, I like to stop in for pool.

It’s a standard bowling alley, with the lanes as the focal point, but there’s a room full of pool tables, so I always get a chance to play.

Sportsman’s Family Billiards

Sportsman’s Family Billiards is one of my favorite fun places to go out when heading past the Cienega area on the Santa Monica Freeway.

It’s not far from the Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens, so it’s a cool place to stop after a day in nature.

It’s a huge building with plenty of pool tables for everyone.

First Street Pool and Billiard is right in the heart of where the San Bernardino Freeway branches into the 101 and 10, halfway between Prospect Park and Hollenbeck Park.

They only serve beer and often have live music, but it’s a fun scene when I want to do more than play serious pool.

House of Billiards in Sherman Oaks has plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, so I play pool and have some drinks before dinner when I’m in the area.

They serve various draft beers, including sours, dark ales, hoppy beers, and Belgians, and have dozens of TVs up so I can watch any game that’s on.

Fantasia Billiards
