Top 5 Poolside Bars in Houston

Houston gets hot, and there’s no better way to relax than with a drink at the pool.

Finding the best poolside bars in Houston is tricky, though. Despite the heat, there’s a surprisingly low inventory of great poolside libations.

I managed to find five favorites, though. So, if you’re heading to Houston soon, grab a swimsuit and check out this list. You’ll be glad you did.

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa

111 N Post Oak Ln, Houston, TX 77024

The Arbor Grille inside the Houstonian Hotel, Club, & Spa offers beautiful poolside dining and drinks.

Their cocktail list is perfect for summer sipping. It includes frozen margaritas, grapefruit mojitos, and a refreshing spa cooler made with cucumber, mint, and agave.

The ambiance is also excellent. You’re sitting on an expansive, shady wood deck just above the pool area. Unfortunately, you have to be a club member or hotel guest to enjoy this experience, but if you ever have the chance, be sure to take it.

Marriott Marquis Houston

1777 Walker St, Houston, TX 77010
Phone: (713) 654-1777
Visit Website

Marriott Marquis Houston is downtown, near the convention center. It’s not a place you expect to find a great pool, but there’s actually more than a pool here. There’s a full-blown lazy river – on the roof!

That makes the poolside bar, called High Dive, extra cool. Not only do you get relaxed, poolside vibes, but you also get rooftop views of the city.

Enjoy a cocktail in a coconut while you lounge in a cabana or take a trip down the refreshing lazy river.

The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston

1600 W Loop S, Houston, TX 77027
Phone: (844) 386-1600
Visit Website

The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston calls its pool a “tropical sanctuary,” and it is. This gorgeous courtyard pool is the perfect place to sip a cocktail on a hot day.

It’s not a very big space, but that’s what makes it feel exclusive. There are five cabanas and 32 lounge chairs available, along with a small pool cafe where you can order your choice of beverages.

Space Cowboy at Heights House Hotel

100 W Cavalcade St, Houston, TX 77009
Visit Website

If you’re looking for a pool party, head to Space Cowboy at Heights House Hotel.

This hip spot is known for its colorful drinks, fun music, and poppy art. You’re sure to have a good time.

The drinks at this poolside bar are also phenomenal. I find the spicy lady to be particularly delicious with its unique blend of elderflower liqueur, mango, and lemon with spices.

El Segundo Swim Club

5180 Avenue L, Houston, TX 77011
Visit Website

Resort pools can be a little stuffy. El Segundo is anything but that. Relaxed and unpretentious, this swim club is located in Houston’s second ward.

You’d never know it was there unless you already knew where to look. But once you find it, you’ll be glad you did.

With cabanas made from recycled industrial containers, food trucks, and weekend DJs, this is a pool party you have to experience. And the drinks are excellent. Try the Miraflores; it’s my favorite.

Please drink responsibly, be fully accountable with your alcohol consumption, and show others respect.

I have always had a deep interest in the restaurant and bar industry. My restaurant experience began in 1997 at the age of 14 as a bus boy. By the time I turned 17 I was serving tables, and by 19 I was bartending/bar managing 6-7 nights a week.

In 2012, after a decade and a half of learning all facets of the industry, I opened my first restaurant/bar. In 2015, a second location followed, the latter being featured on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
