As Atlanta’s oldest Irish pub, Limericks is one of my top recommendations when folks ask me where to get a drink in the Virgina-Heartland neighborhood.
It’s rustic and warm, with a railroad theme paying homage to the ATL’s history as a whistlestop town.
Limerick specializes in Irish beer, so you can always head there for a classic Guinness.
I’d also encourage you to expand your horizons with a pint of Smithwick’s, an Irish red ale, or Magner’s Irish Cider.
If you’re feeling a whisky instead, they have almost 30 options.

The Elder Tree Public House is right at home in East Atlanta Village, nestled amongst the vibrant murals and eclectic shops lining the streets.
Inside, you can sit down for a meal at one of their highbacked wooden booths or sidle up to the bar to watch the game.
You’ll go into The Elder Tree Public House for a drink but stay for their stick-to-your-ribs delicious pub grub.
It’s one of my favorite places to go out for a lazy weekend brunch, so I can nosh on their Public House Breakfast and sip an Irish Coffee.
Add the Bailey’s because it’s worth a couple of extra bucks.

If you’ve always wanted to visit Dublin but haven’t had the chance, Marlay House Irish Pub is about as close as you can get in the Peach State.
It’s one of the most fun places to get drinks in downtown Decatur because of the apparent love that goes into everything from the curated drink selection to the traditional decor.
Next time you’re in Decatur Square, stop by Marlays and order fish and chips with a Slane Smash cocktail.
It’s my usual order, and it’s never failed to delight.

Fadó comes from the Gaelic word for “long ago,” the Irish equivalent of “once upon a time” in tall tales and shared stories.
It’s fitting because Fadó brings the story of Irish pub culture to Atlanta with classic fare and a large selection of Irish beers.
They’re also passionate soccer fans, with official partnerships with Atlanta United, Chelsea, and Leeds United FC.
They’re also the home of the Atlanta branch of the Liverpool FC Official Supporters Club.

Meehan’s Public House Downtown stands out as one of the best bars in the heart of Atlanta, just a quick walk from Fox Theatre and Woodruff Park.
They’re housed in a Landmark Building of Architectural Significance, and they’ve transformed the space into an elegant but welcoming eatery with rich mahogany decor and warm lighting.
It’s one of my top bars for enjoying a drink on a quiet evening, as their bar menu is generous but uncomplicated.
You’ll find a familiar mix of domestic favorites, Irish imports, and an excellent selection of single malts like Lagavulin and Glenmorangie.
Thos. O’Reilly’s Public House

Thos. O’Reilly’s Public House is a treasured staple of the Sandy Springs community.
It’s named after Father Thomas O’Reilly, who led negotiations with General William Sherman during the Siege of Atlanta in 1864.
His efforts spared the city hall, the courthouse, five churches, and many homes.
His legacy of love for his community continues in Thos. O’Reilly’s Public House, where everyone is welcome to eat, drink, and be merry.
It’s a certified Perfect Pint Guinness Location, and they have more than 80 Irish whiskies.
The Shanky’s Whip Old Fashioned is a must-try.

Mac McGee in The Battery Atlanta around Truist Park is for foodies who want a genuine Irish pub fare experience.
They are a proper, from-scatch kitchen specializing in local ingredients. You can taste the appreciation of Irish cuisine in every bite.
Of course, you can’t have a meal without something to wash it down, and Mac McGee has you covered.
They have four Irish beers on draught and make a wicked Black Velvet combination pint.
They also have five different whiskey flights so that you can taste a bit of everything.
