Fermentery Form is a brewery and speakeasy in Olde Kensington.
It’s not your traditional speakeasy with a password, but you can easily miss it if you’re not looking for it.
It’s a small artisan spot that uses unique ingredients to make some of the best drinks I’ve had in Philly.
Since they’re often creating new brews, I recommend asking a bartender when you’re there what you should try.
I love their wine and barrel-aged beer hybrid, Origins.
Blind Barber

You’ll need to go inside the Hale Building to find Blind Barber. It’s on the first floor and tucked away like any good speakeasy is.
At first glance, you feel like you’re walking into a hair salon and shop, which you are, but behind a secret door is an intimate speakeasy.
They have a full bar to order from, but a handcrafted cocktail is my favorite when I’m here.
I love a Manhattan, an old fashioned, or a classic dirty martini when I’m here.
Ruba Club

Ruba Club is in the North Liberties neighborhood of Philly, a membership-only club and bar.
The membership aspect makes it one of the best speakeasies in Philadelphia.
Even though it’s membership only, it has a more casual atmosphere rather than a pretentious one.
They do live music events often and have a lively atmosphere with people dancing, drinking, and playing pool.
The drinks here are standard, but some popular ones are their cosmopolitan and spicy margarita.

You’ll find Hop Sing Laundromat in the heart of Philly near the convention center.
This swanky speakeasy has a secret door you must wait at before entering the bar.
Once inside, the bar feels like you’ve been transported back to the days of prohibition.
Hop Sing Laundromat is famous for its cocktails. You can order beer or wine here, but I’d stick with the cocktails.
They’re constantly coming up with new creations, so I like to ask the bartender to surprise me.
The Ranstead Room

Just north of Rittenhouse Square is The Ranstead Room. The bar features a black door in an otherwise unassuming building.
You can easily miss it if you’re not looking for it, so be on the lookout.
The drinks here are what you’d expect from a speakeasy.
I’d take an Uber or taxi here so you can try a few of their cocktails like the pickle, buck, mule, the Indian Ocean, or lawless doings.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can order a drink called Bartender’s Choice, and they’ll make something great to surprise you.

The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Company is a bar near the Curtis Institute of Music and features an unmarked entrance.
Unless there’s a line outside, you’ll need to be careful not to walk right by it.
The bar is a speakeasy but is brightly decorated compared to the others on this list.
They have a full bar featuring beer, wine, and cocktails. You can’t go wrong with classics here, like an espresso martini.
Graffiti Bar

Graffiti Bar is in the heart of downtown Philly, and unlike these other speakeasies, you can’t miss it.
It’s a year-round outdoor bar that features walls lined with colorful graffiti.
Their happy hour is my favorite, but making time to stop in is worth it regardless of the time.
I love the Thai punch and the large selection of sake that they have.
