The draft beer options are also endless. Try the oaky, delicious Live Oak Hefeweizen, savory chicken wings as an appetizer, NY Strip steak with soft mashed potatoes for the main meal, and sweet and creamy chocolate cake for dessert.

If you’re wondering where to get a drink, check out Pitch 25. The laidback sports bar sits next to PNC Stadium and is a few blocks from the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Here, you will find all types of fun alcoholic drinks to try, like the Sour Monkey, the Smart Cookie stout beer, or the Ken Wright ‘16 Reserve Pinot Noir. You can also try their pulled pork sandwich or jumbo wings.

Located in midtown Houston on the corner of Brazos Street and Hadley Street, this sports bar sits amid the restaurant scene with Barkley’s Grill, Gotham Pizza, and Lazy Bagel in the general neighborhood.

Out of all the sports bars in Houston, Little Woodrow’s has some of the best beer. I loved having a glass of whiskey and a mug of IPA at the colorful and laidback bar.

Kirby Ice House is a few blocks away from Levy Park. The trendy and laidback sports bar has 60 beers on tap and a large wine and liquor selection.

Try their Galveston Island Tiki Wheat beer if you like the smooth taste of a darker ale. Or try their Saint Arnold Amber Ale if you want a thicker taste.


Drift

The Drift sports bar sits right by numerous restaurants like the Moonshine Deck and the Hubcap Grill. It’s also a few blocks away from Wright-Bembry Park.

At the upscale sports bar, I had my pick of drinks. I enjoyed a sweet and light margarita, but you may like a Mai Tai or a Live Oak Hefeweizen beer.


Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill

Christian’s Tailgate Bar & Grill has a casual and divey atmosphere where the sports bar holds various events like Bachelor parties, fundraisers, graduations, or birthday parties.

Here, you can enjoy a White Oak Mule cocktail, a Spicy Patron Pineapple Margarita, or a glass of Pinot Grigio along with a jumbo pretzel or a country-fried bacon burger.


Patterson Park

The Patterson Park patio bar has a laidback and trendy look. I found it very functional, too. The bar had fans to keep their guests cool and large television screens for watching sports games.

A few of the best drinks here include the flavorful Thai Chili Margarita, a smooth Villa Pozzi Cabernet, and the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

Do you love sweet cocktails, hoppy beers, and many authentic Italian cuisine dishes? If so, check out Nick’s Place.

Try a fresh Tuscan salad with a garlicky dressing and the cheesy lasagna or savory chicken florentine dish to go with your drink.

When I visited Nick’s Place, I also loved the sporty feel of the bar and the laid-back environment.

The Highline Park sports bar sits across from Lawrence Park, which has a great basketball court. The upscale bar Highline Park serves a variety of cocktails like a Mojito or an Espresso Martini.

Try a Guinness Draft stout beer with your chicken sandwich or burger. I enjoyed the sweet and velvety taste of my glass of Banshee Pinot Noir.


R Bar

The R Bar is a few blocks away from Summer Street Park. I found the R Bar fun and sporty and liked playing the billiard games here.

The drinks you can enjoy at this bar include a wide variety of beers, such as the light Coors beer and different dark lagers. The best dishes here include savory buffalo wings and burgers.


The Phoenix on Westheimer

I found The Phoenix on Westheimer in the general neighborhood of the River Oaks Country Club and the River Oaks Elementary School.

The Phoenix on Westheimer had a divey feel. The sports bar serves delicious beers like the fruity Brooklyn Post Road Pumpkin, the hoppy Karbach Hopadillo IPA, the tasty Samuel Adams Octoberfest, and the sweet Bold Rock Honeycrisp Apple hard cider.


Final Thoughts

When visiting Houston with your family, you should take your kids to the Children’s Museum of Houston or the Downtown Aquarium.

However, when you leave your children with the babysitter in the evening, you’ll want to visit a few of the best sports bars Houston locals love.
