Since 1992, Hopleaf has been a both a mecca for craft beer fans and a relaxed convivial neighborhood pub in Andersonville. For over 15 years, Hopleaf has also offered thoughtfully sourced, in-house prepped, chef-inspired dining. Lacking screened distractions, games, or live entertainment, Hopleaf is for drinking, eating and talking with friends, new and old. They offer a carefully selected, ever-changing menu of better beers—on 68 taps and in bottles— fine wines, spirits and cocktails, cider and meads that pair well with our seasonal food menu.
This is one of the most popular bars in the area, so you’ll be sure to have a good time. I ordered a few drinks, but my favorite ended up being the Anchor and Surly.

Scofflaw is a gin-focused cocktail bar in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. A rebellious mix of the baroque and affordable, Scofflaw brings together a diverse array of drinkers for beautifully crafted cocktails, craft beer and small plates that go well beyond “bar food.”
I highly recommend trying the Immortal Juice, Scofflaw Classic, and Irish Coffee. My favorite cocktail was the Rococo with london dry gin, forthave apertivo, vermouth blend, and cacao.

Opened December 2013, Sportsman’s Club showcases classically inspired, spirit-forward cocktails that change daily and focus on balance and simplicity. The neighborhood tavern also offers craft beer and wine, as well as an amaro machine, carry-out liquor program and a thoughtfully curated bar goods shop.
We had so much fun at this place! My friends ordered the Old Fashioned and Bees Knees, and I opted for the Gimlet. My drink came with vodka, lime, and dash of sugar.
The Violet Hour

The Violet Hour serves artisanal cocktails in the heart of Wicker Park. Rooted in pre-prohibition style libations, the James Beard Award-winning bar program features a seasonally rotating cocktail list, as well as an extensive selection of approachable and sought-after spirits.
My friends tried the Husky Pants, Hawks and Doves, and Tell Me More and loved them! I had the Smokin’s Aces with Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Heirloom Creme de Flora, grapefruit, lemon, ginger, and jasmine and it was delicious!

Delilah’s opened in 1993 and has been open every day since. They feature DJs spinning Rock & Roll, Punk Rock, Metal, Ska & Reggae, Soul, Maximum R&B, Hard Country, Garage & Rockabilly – with a regular line up of special events. They carry more than 1000 beer and spirit options and we host regular art openings, film screenings & beer tastings.
We dropped by this spot one night and had a blast! If you end up visiting this bar, I would try the Jim Bean Bourbon or Hudson Baby Bourbon.
The Green Mill

The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge (also known as the Green Mill Jazz Club) is a Chicago entertainment venue located on Broadway in Uptown. It’s noted for its jazz and poetry performances, as well as its ties to the Chicago mob.

Kumiko is a Japanese Dining Bar where food and drink are treated with equal reverence. Located in Chicago’s West Loop, Kumiko boasts incredible cocktails and spirits with exquisite food to pair.
Owner and mixologist Julia Momosé blends Japanese ingredients and techniques to create an elevated menu of beverages and bites.
I really loved the drink I ordered, Bermutto Sazerac with oka Japanese bermutto, suntory whiskey toki, Macvin du Jura, and absinthe. Our bartender also recommended a few of the other drinks on the menu; Moonrise Daiquiri and Hanamizake Martini.
Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar

Maria’s Packaged Goods and Community Bar is a hybrid liquor store & neighborhood tavern supplying a large rotating menu of rare craft beers. The neighborhood bar in Bridgeport also serves artisanal cocktails.
This spot has always been on my list of best bars. Whenever I’m here I get the same drink, the Chicago Style Bloody Mary.

Established in 2019, Osito’s Tap is a “speakeasy” inspired bar highlighting the art of craft spirits, beer, & cocktails, that brings a modern Latinx flair to a classic Chicago era. With a fresh and health conscious food menu, this community “speakeasy” is value driven in educating and creating a community space that is inclusive, fun, and historically remembering.
The El Toronto was absolutely delicious and had comiteco, fernet vallet, angostura bitters, and agave nectar. Other great cocktails I tried were the Humito, Carlitos Way, and To Greener Days. This spot is a must-visit!

The Rainbo Club is the only place with the best bartenders. It is a place where television is forbidden, with one exception on one particular day of the year. The Rainbo is a place for young minds, with bourbon in the hand and dreams run wild. It is the hearth of the original Wicker Park community.

The Aviary is a swanky cocktail lounge with intricate drinks in super creative presentations & clever small bites. Their menu features creative cocktails and chef-designed bites. They are currently offering a 3-Course Cocktail Progression as well as a la carte drinks and bites experience. Also available is a carefully selected list of some of our favorite spirits, beers, wine, and Champagne.
The Welcome Back Lounge

Welcome Back, at its very core, is the description of hospitality. A place that no matter if you had been there before or not, you immediately feel like a regular. With a late 1970s early 1980s feel and a place where friends can meet on the reg.
On my visit I tried the One Bad Apple with Harvest Spice-Infused Tito’s Vodka, apple cider, ginger beer, and lime. It was absolutely amazing so I definitely recommend ordering this. Other drinks that sounded great were the Fat Elvis, Come and Get It, and Not a Cosmo.

Bokeh is focused on serving seasonal cocktails and late night small plates and bar snacks with rotating beer and wine in an intimate and sophisticated space with attentive and friendly guest service, featuring DJs and rotating art shows along with weekly service industry nights & lgbtq nights.
My all time favorite drink at this spot is the Point and Shoot. It comes with new style genever, rye, orgeat, lime, and orange bitters and is absolutely delicious! I also tried the Dark Room and Rangefinder which were equally as good.

Moonflower is a cozy neighborhood tavern and cocktail bar with soulful music and comforting food. Moonflower is an affordable venue that will appeal to younger people and provide a unique alternative to the many sports pubs on the Northwest Side.
This place is one of my favorites! I came here with a group of co-workers and had a great time. I ordered the No Brainer with aged rum, strawberry, banana, lime, angostura bitters and loved it.

If you’re looking for one of the best spots to go out for drinks, this is the spot! I had a bottle of bourbon county.

Rootstock Wine & Beer Bar was established in 2009. Their focus is on wine and beer of small production with a strong emphasis on organic and biodynamic farming practices. They support local farmers, hormone free meats, and seasonal produce as often as possible.
My favorite drink is the Uccelli Spritz with Uccelli Aperitivo, Cap Corse Mattei aperitif blanc, Raventos, lemon.
All Together Now

All Together Now is for gathering. They’re a funky little restaurant, natural wine shop, and cheese counter in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village that’s about the joy of getting people together around food and drink. Whether you’re assembling at our place, yours or the park, you’re gonna need the goods. And they have ‘em.
If you stop by this place, I would recommend trying the 2020 STEIN ‘Weihwasser’ Feinherb. Other drinks that caught my eye were the 2020 IDLEWILD ‘Flora + Fauna’ Rose and 2020 BEATRICE et PASCAL LAMBERT ‘100% Pur Jus’. I’ll be ordering those next time I pop into this spot!
