  • 1 16- ounce pint of blueberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Add blueberries, water, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Lightly mash the blueberries as they warm to help release their juice.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool for 20 minutes.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a clean container, pressing gently on the solids to extract the liquid.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • Do not boil too hard or the syrup can taste cooked instead of fresh
  • Mash gently to avoid pushing bitter skins into the mix
  • Strain slowly to keep the syrup smooth
