- 1 16- ounce pint of blueberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
Add blueberries, water, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Lightly mash the blueberries as they warm to help release their juice.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and let it cool for 20 minutes.
Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a clean container, pressing gently on the solids to extract the liquid.
Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Pro Tips
- Do not boil too hard or the syrup can taste cooked instead of fresh
- Mash gently to avoid pushing bitter skins into the mix
- Strain slowly to keep the syrup smooth
