Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup

Place all ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat. Allow the mixture to come to a light b boil
Gently mash up the cranberries to release more flavor.
Turn down the heat and bring to a light simmer. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Take off heat and let it cool for another 20 minutes
Use a cheesecloth or a strainer to strain the cranberry syrup out. Place in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks!

Do not overboil. A hard boil can mute the cranberry flavor and turn the sugar bitter.

Use fresh spices. Old cinnamon sticks or cloves lose their punch and flatten the syrup.
