Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup

  • Place all ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat. Allow the mixture to come to a light b boil
  • Gently mash up the cranberries to release more flavor.
  • Turn down the heat and bring to a light simmer. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Take off heat and let it cool for another 20 minutes
  • Use a cheesecloth or a strainer to strain the cranberry syrup out. Place in an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks!

Notes

Pro Tips

  • Do not overboil. A hard boil can mute the cranberry flavor and turn the sugar bitter.
  • Use fresh spices. Old cinnamon sticks or cloves lose their punch and flatten the syrup.
  • Peel carefully. Only use the orange zest, not the white part underneath.
