Try a fresh Blueberry Whiskey Sour recipe today. Perfect mix of tart and sweet.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces whiskey bourbon works well
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, then cooled
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries plus a few for garnish
  • 1 egg white for frothiness
  • Optional: A few dashes of bitters aromatic or orange bitters are a good choice

Garnish

  • Lemon twist
  • Fresh blueberries

Instructions

  • Prepare the Simple Syrup:
  • Combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let it cool before using.
  • Muddle the Blueberries:
  • In a shaker, muddle the fresh blueberries with the simple syrup until well smashed. This releases the juice and flavor of the berries.
  • Mix the Cocktail:
  • To the muddled blueberries, add whiskey, lemon juice, and ice. If you're using it, add the egg white as well.
  • If you like, add a few dashes of bitters for extra flavor.
  • Shake:
  • Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. If you're using egg white, you'll want to shake it a bit longer to ensure it's fully frothy.
  • Strain and Serve:
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with ice. Some prefer to double strain to remove all blueberry pulp and seeds.
  • Garnish and Enjoy:
  • Garnish with a few fresh blueberries and a lemon twist.
