Ingredients

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 1 brown sugar cube
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • Sparkling water to top
  • Mint sprig and lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • In a highball glass, add the brown sugar cube and lime juice.
  • Muddle until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the mint leaves and gently press them to release the oils (don’t shred them).
  • Pour in the dark rum and fill the glass with ice.
  • Stir to mix everything well.
  • Top with sparkling water and give it one last gentle stir.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • If you don’t have a sugar cube, you can use 1 tsp of brown sugar instead.
  • Clap the mint between your hands before garnishing to boost aroma.
  • Dark rum gives this mojito more body and a slightly caramel-like finish.
