- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of sugar
- About a cup of fresh ginger root peeled and thinly sliced
Combine the water and sugar in a small pot.
Heat the mixture on medium, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Add the sliced ginger to the pot.
Let the mix simmer (cook on low heat) for about 30 minutes. This lets the ginger flavor really get into the syrup.
Take the pot off the heat and let it cool.
Strain the syrup to remove the ginger pieces. Now, your ginger syrup is ready to use!
