A perfect blend of sweet watermelon, mint, bourbon, and lemon for a refreshing, flavor-packed cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Bourbon Choose a good quality bourbon for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Fresh watermelon cubes This will give you the fresh watermelon juice you need.
  • 1 tablespoon Simple syrup To sweeten the cocktail. You can adjust this based on your taste.
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon Adds a nice citrusy kick.
  • A few fresh mint leaves For a refreshing aroma and taste.

Instructions

  • Muddle the Watermelon and Mint: In your cocktail shaker, add the fresh watermelon cubes and mint leaves. Use the muddler to gently crush them together until the watermelon is juicy, and you can smell the mint.
  • Add the Wet Ingredients: Pour in the bourbon, simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  • Shake it Up: Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker. Put the lid on tightly, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. This not only chills the drink but also mixes all the flavors beautifully.
  • Strain and Serve: Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice. If you like, you can double strain it to remove any small bits of watermelon or mint for a smoother drink.
  • Garnish: Add a sprig of mint or a small wedge of watermelon to the rim of your glass for that extra touch.
  • Enjoy: Give your drink a gentle stir, sip, and enjoy the fruity, bourbon goodness!

Notes

When you take a sip of the Watermelon Bourbon Smash, the first thing you'll notice is the sweet and refreshing taste of fresh watermelon. It's bright and juicy, setting a summery tone for the drink. The bourbon comes through next, adding a warm, slightly vanilla and oak-infused depth that balances the watermelon's sweetness. The lemon juice introduces a citrusy brightness, ensuring the drink isn't too sweet and adds a zesty kick. The mint leaves a cool aftertaste, refreshing your palate with every sip.
