Aguardiente
Aguardiente (pronounced ah-gwar-dee-EN-tay) is a broad category of distilled spirits whose name means “fiery water” or “burning water” in Spanish. Produced throughout Latin America and parts of Europe, it’s typically made from sugarcane and flavored with anise, giving it a smooth, aromatic character with a signature licorice note, however, styles vary widely by region and producer.
More than just a spirit, Aguardiente is a cultural staple at celebrations, gatherings, and everyday moments across Latin America. Bold, approachable, and deeply rooted in tradition, it’s a category worth knowing. At My Bartender, we’re here to help you explore it!
