- 750 ml red wine
- 1 orange sliced into rounds
- 1/4 cup sugar adjust to taste
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 star anise
- Optional: a splash of brandy for extra warmth
Combine the wine, orange slices, sugar, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise in a large pot.
Gently warm the mixture over low heat for about 20 minutes. Make sure it doesn't boil; we just want it nice and warm.
Taste it and add more sugar if you like it sweeter.
Use a strainer to remove the spices and orange slices.
Serve warm in your chosen mugs or glasses.
