Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup
  • 2 thin slices of fresh jalapeño plus extra for garnish
  • A pinch of smoked paprika or chili powder optional, for depth
  • 2 tbsp Tajín or chili powder for rimming
  • 1 tbsp coarse sea salt for rimming
  • Thin lime wheel for garnish
  • Jalapeño slice for garnish
  • Cinnamon stick for a rustic stirrer for garnish, Optional

Instructions

  • Mix Tajín and coarse sea salt on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a short rocks glass, then dip the rim into the spice mixture to coat.
  • In the bottom of the glass, lightly muddle the jalapeño slices with agave syrup to release their spice. Add lime juice and tequila, then fill the glass with ice.
  • Stir gently to mix the flavors together.
  • Slide a thin lime wheel against the inside of the glass, and place a jalapeño slice on top of the drink. For an added touch, use a cinnamon stick as a stirrer for a visually striking and aromatic finish.

Notes

Pro Tips

  • For a milder spice level, remove the seeds from the jalapeño slices before muddling.
  • Add more lime juice or adjust the agave syrup to suit your taste preferences.
  • Pre-chill your glass for an extra-refreshing experience.
