Spicy Mexican chaser for sipping with tequila.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers seeded and finely chopped
  • 1-2 hot sauce dashes such as Tabasco
  • 1 tsp grenadine or sugar for sweetness

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher, combine all of the ingredients except for the ice. Stir well to combine.
  • Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a teaspoon of grenadine or sugar.
  • Chill the sangrita in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • When ready to serve, fill a shot glass with tequila and a separate shot glass with the sangrita.
  • Sip the tequila, then follow with a sip of the sangrita. The flavors should balance each other out nicely.
