Instructions
Spiced Rum Preparation
Combine Ingredients:
In a large jar or pitcher, mix 3 cups of rum, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of frozen blueberries.
Infuse:
Let the mixture infuse for at least 24 hours in a cool, dark place. The longer it infuses, the more pronounced the blueberry flavor will be.
Strain:
After infusion, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the blueberries and any sediment.
Your spiced rum is now ready for the cocktail.
Cinnamon Simple Syrup
Combine Sugar and Water:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water.
Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add Cinnamon Sticks:
Add 5 cinnamon sticks to the mixture.
Simmer:
Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes. Do not let it boil vigorously.
Cool and Strain:
Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
Then, strain out the cinnamon sticks.
Punch Assembly
Mix the Punch:
In a large pitcher, combine 3 cups of the prepared spiced rum, 1 cup seltzer, ¼ cup lime juice (freshly squeezed for the best flavor), ½ cup cinnamon simple syrup, ½ cup unsweetened Concord grape juice, and 1 cup frozen blueberries.
Stir Gently:
Stir the mixture gently to combine. The frozen blueberries will help keep the punch chilled without diluting it.
Garnish and Serve:
Serve the punch in glasses over ice (if desired) and garnish with frozen blueberries, cinnamon sticks, and lime slices. Lemon or orange slices can also be used for a different twist.
