Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz watermelon juice freshly blended watermelon, strained
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, then cooled
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • Watermelon slice for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Watermelon Juice:

  • Blend fresh watermelon chunks until smooth.
  • Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove the pulp, collecting the juice in a bowl.

Mix the Cocktail:

  • In a shaker, combine the vodka, freshly squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, and watermelon juice.
  • Fill the shaker with ice, covering the liquid.

Shake:

  • Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This not only chills the drink but also dilutes it slightly for a smoother taste.

Serve:

  • Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass to remove the ice shards.
  • Garnish with a small slice of watermelon on the rim of the glass.
