Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Chambord
  • 1 1/2 ounces bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce vermouth rosso sweet red vermouth
  • 2-3 dashes orange bitters
  • Orange twist for garnish

Instructions

  • Chill Your Glass: Begin by chilling your cocktail glass (either a martini glass or a coupe) by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.
  • Mix Ingredients: In a mixing glass, combine the Chambord, bourbon, and vermouth rosso. Add 2-3 dashes of orange bitters. This will bring a citrusy depth to the cocktail.
  • Stir: Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture gently. The aim is to chill the drink while diluting it slightly to enhance the flavors. Stir for about 30 seconds.
  • Prepare the Garnish: While the cocktail is chilling, prepare your orange twist. Use a vegetable peeler or a knife to cut a thin strip of orange peel. Try to get as little of the pith (the white part) as possible to avoid bitterness.
  • Serve: Empty the ice water from your cocktail glass and strain the cocktail mixture into it.
  • Garnish and Serve: Twist the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then rub the rim of the glass with the peel to infuse it with a hint of orange. Drop the twist into the drink as a garnish.
  • Enjoy: Your Chambord French Manhattan is ready to be enjoyed.
