Long Ireland Iced Tea

Long Ireland Iced Tea

The Long Ireland Iced Tea is a playful twist on the classic Long Island, swapping cola for melon liqueur, orange juice, and Sprite for a sweet, citrus-forward, and refreshingly green cocktail. Despite its cheerful color, this drink is potent with vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and a burst of fruity flavors all in one glass. Perfect for parties, it’s both a conversation starter and a crowd-pleaser. For extra flair (and a bit more punch), you can add a mini bottle of Jameson whiskey directly into the glass, creating a show-stopping presentation and a bolder flavor profile.

Tasting Notes

The Long Ireland Iced Tea is a bold, fruit-forward twist on the classic Long Island, replacing cola with melon liqueur, orange juice, and Sprite. The result is a bright, sweet, and citrusy flavor with an underlying kick from vodka, gin, rum, and tequila. The melon liqueur adds a honeyed, fruity note that pairs well with the tartness of the sour mix. The Sprite brings gentle fizz, making the drink feel lighter despite its strong base. Adding a mini bottle of Jameson creates a whiskey layer that deepens the flavor, giving a playful contrast between tropical fruit and smooth, oaky warmth.

Equipment and Glassware

To make the Long Ireland Iced Tea, you’ll need a cocktail shaker to mix the spirits and juices thoroughly. A jigger ensures precise measurements, which is important for balancing the high-proof spirits with the sweet and citrus components. A long bar spoon can help with gentle stirring if you prefer a softer mix before topping with Sprite. Ice is needed both for shaking and serving. Use a strainer to keep the poured drink free of excess ice chunks. This cocktail is best served in a tall highball or Collins glass to accommodate the multiple liquid layers and optional Jameson bottle.
