Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Blueberries plus extra for garnish
  • 6-8 large Basil Leaves plus extra for garnish
  • 1 Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Simple Syrup You can make this by dissolving equal parts of sugar and water over heat
  • 2 ounces Vodka
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec optional for a sweeter, more citrusy flavor
  • Club Soda A splash for topping up

Instructions

  • Muddle the Blueberries and Basil: In the cocktail shaker, muddle the blueberries and basil leaves together until the blueberries are well crushed and the basil is fragrant. This releases their flavors into the cocktail.
  • Mix the Cocktail:
  • Add the lemon juice, simple syrup, vodka, and triple sec (if using) to the shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice, covering the mixture.
  • Shake: Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. The shaking not only chills the mix but also ensures that all the flavors meld together beautifully.
  • Strain: Strain the mixture into a highball glass filled with fresh ice. This step removes the muddled blueberry skins and basil leaf bits, giving you a smoother drink.
  • Top Up and Garnish:
  • Top up the glass with a splash of club soda for a little fizz.
  • Garnish with a few whole blueberries and a sprig of basil on top.
  • Serve: Stir gently before serving to combine everything. Enjoy your Boozy Basil Blueberry Cocktail.
