- 1 cup bourbon Kentucky bourbon like Maker’s Mark or Woodford Reserve is ideal
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons, depending on size and juiciness
- 1/2 cup simple syrup you can make this by heating equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, then cooling it
- 2 cups cold water
- Lemon slices and mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Lemons:
- Squeeze the lemons to get about 1 cup of juice. It’s best to use fresh lemons for the brightest flavor.
Make Simple Syrup:
- Combine equal parts of sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat until the sugar dissolves completely, then allow it to cool. This mixture is your simple syrup.
Mix the Drink:
- In a pitcher, combine the bourbon, freshly squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, and cold water. Stir well.
