Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila preferably silver or blanco for a smoother taste
  • 1 ounce lime juice freshly squeezed is best
  • 1/2 ounce crème de violette for a lovely violet flavor and color
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup to sweeten
  • Optional: salt or sugar for the rim of the glass
  • Optional: a slice of lime or edible violet flowers for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Glass:

  • If you like, you can rim your glass with salt or sugar. To do this, rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and then dip it into a plate of salt or sugar.

Mix the Drink:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  • Pour the tequila, lime juice, crème de violette, and simple syrup over the ice.
  • Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This mixes the ingredients well and chills the drink.

Serve:

  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass. You can either serve it over fresh ice or strain it into a chilled glass for a “straight up” margarita.
  • Garnish with a slice of lime on the rim or float an edible violet flower on top for an extra special touch.

Enjoy:

  • Serve immediately and enjoy the unique blend of flavors!
