Tasting Notes

Fruity, creamy, and sweet flavors come together in perfect harmony in the Lava Flow. A burst of luscious ripe strawberries hits your senses first, then luscious coconut and tart pineapple. The rum unites the flavors and provides a warm, velvety aftertaste. It’s well-balanced, and the many flavors work together to provide an exciting experience with each sip.

Equipment and Glassware

To achieve the velvety, frosty consistency of this popular drink, a blender is required. To have a perfectly smooth drink, use a fine strainer. The several layers will really shine through when served in a tall hurricane glass. The glass does a great job of containing the substantial amount, which enhances the visual appeal of each bite.

  • 1 oz. Coconut Rum
  • 2 oz. Pineapple Juice
  • 2 oz. Cream of Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Strawberries

Pro Tips

  • For the most flavor, use strawberries that are ripe and sweet.
  • To prolong the drink’s cooling effect, chill the glass ahead of time.
  • To make it look more like lava flowing, slowly pour the pineapple mixture over the spoon’s back.

When to Serve

If you’re looking to add a touch of tropical style to your next summer party, poolside lounge, or any other event, the Lava Flow is the way to go. At parties or just hanging out with friends, it starts a lively discussion.

Which Liquor Brands to Choose

A light rum like Bacardi will have the smooth, clean flavor you’re looking for. Malibu coconut rum is a favorite among many because it has the ideal balance of sweetness and coconut flavor for this cocktail.
