Tasting Notes

The Green Goblin Cocktail blends tropical fruit sweetness with a subtle tang and a fizzy finish. Dark rum provides warmth and depth, while pineapple juice adds bright sweetness that pairs perfectly with the citrus notes from lemon juice. Blue Curaçao brings a hint of orange flavor and a striking green hue when mixed. Lemon-lime soda adds effervescence, balancing the drink with a light, refreshing finish. The black sanding sugar rim gives the cocktail a dramatic, Halloween-ready appearance. Altogether, the drink is lively, balanced, and easy to sip perfect for festive gatherings and themed celebrations.

Equipment and Glassware

Making the Green Goblin Cocktail requires only a few basic tools. A cocktail shaker is essential for chilling and blending the ingredients evenly. A strainer ensures a smooth pour, keeping the texture clean and free from ice shards. For rimming, a shallow saucer helps coat the glass evenly with simple syrup and black sanding sugar. A goblet or wide cocktail glass works best for presentation, giving enough room for the fizzy soda topper while showcasing the vivid color. A bar spoon may also come in handy for gently stirring the soda after topping to preserve carbonation.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Pour black sanding sugar onto a saucer, making sure the layer is at least ¼ inch high and wider than the rim of your goblet or cocktail glass.
  • Dab the rim of your goblet with simple syrup (or another sticky liquid). Then, dip the coated rim into the black sanding sugar on the saucer, gently twisting the goblet to ensure the entire rim is evenly covered with sugar.
  • In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine the dark rum, pineapple juice, fresh lemon juice, and Blue Curacao syrup. Shake well to chill and mix the ingredients.
  • Carefully strain the cocktail into your prepared goblet, taking care not to splash the sugar-coated rim.
  • Top off the cocktail with lemon-lime soda, adding a fizzy finish.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your Green Goblin Cocktail!

Pro Tips

  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor.
  • Shake firmly for proper chilling and smooth texture.
  • Chill your glass before rimming for better sugar adhesion.
  • Add the soda slowly to preserve carbonation.
  • For extra flair, place a lime wheel or gummy candy on the rim.
  • Use clear ice cubes to highlight the drink’s color.
  • Try spiced rum for a bolder, warmer variation.
  • Prepare rimmed glasses ahead of time for faster serving at parties.

    • 100%. just figure out the pitch size and multiply it by the servings. one thing to consider is adding ice to the pitcher or not. some add ice to the pitcher when making it, but that ice will dilute the batch. others make the batch without ice and pour it into glasses fill with ice.
